Hello!

Hi, I’m Sarah and I love taking photos of everything in the natural world.  I grew up on a farm in Leitrim where feeding the calves and picking wildflowers, and wild strawberries to take home and have with ‘the top of the milk’ were favourite summer activities! As an adult I still view the creation as a naturally loving and fun place to be. I won’t ever need to visit any other planet for my holidays1.

I first started started taking photography seriously about five years ago when I wanted to record the plants that provided food for wild bees.  This was after I noticed one bee reversing quickly out of my daffodils and flying away into a barren-looking hedge!

I am grateful to that bee for prompting me to pay closer attention to nature and to record it’s special moments.

Spending time in nature is for me soothing, humbling and inspiring.  If you cannot spend time outdoors to enjoy our natural world then this collection of photos is especially for you.

Closely observing the natural world always makes me feel gratitude for living in such a beautiful place.

However Sligo is not the only county featured here. As I cannot let a good photo opportunity pass me by you will also get scenes from Leitrim, Cavan, Mayo, Kerry.. various ‘holiday’ destinations.

Since 2019 I have taken part in exhibitions held by the community of creatives known as the Easkey Artists Exhibition Group.

Keep an eye out for our Autumn exhibition in Abhainn Studio, Enniscrone

Ode to the bees ..

Photographing wildflowers has made me aware of the variety of insects they support.

So many tiny creatures know where and and when to find the exact bloom to meet their needs!

The mystery of it all is too much to comprehend but I made a collection of Spring wildflower photos for us to appreciate it … and to share their lovely beauty. I hope to add a collection of the Summer wildflowers that bloom along this section of the Wild Atlantic Way soon..
